This web page was designed as an output from the Antarctic Biota Count project funded by the Netherlands Polar Programme (NWO). 

This web page has a primary focus on maritime Antarctic ecosystems as this is where most biodiversity on land can be found in Antarctica. Species patterns and communities change further south on the continent.

The information on this web page is brought together by various experts in the fields of biology, climate and social sciences who work on Antarctica and reflect the current state of knowledge. As science progresses, new insights and findings may require revision of text and figures. We aim to keep this up to date but if you feel that information is missing or incorrect please reach out to us.
